The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Systems for Action research program

Systems for Action is a signature research program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) that seeks to test new ways of connecting the nation’s fragmented medical, social, and public health systems. The program supports research teams from across the United States in conducting scientific studies that evaluate the implementation and impact of novel approaches to systems alignment. The system alignment mechanisms studied take many forms, including shared governance models,  data exchange and integration platforms, bundled and blended payment models, and cross-cutting workforce components such as navigators and integrators.

National Ataxia Foundation, Seed Money Research Grants

National Ataxia Foundation research grants are for new and innovative studies that are relevant to the cause, pathogenesis or treatment of the hereditary or sporadic ataxias. Research grants are offered primarily as “seed monies” to assist investigators in the early or pilot phase of their studies and as additional support for ongoing investigations on demonstration of need. It is hoped that these studies will be further developed to attract future funding from other sources.

USDA-NRCS-NHQ-CIGOFT-22-NOFO0001212, USDA-NRCS On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials for Federal fiscal year (FY) 2022

NRCS is announcing the availability of Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials (On-Farm Trials) to stimulate the adoption and evaluation of innovative conservation approaches in partnership with agricultural producers. For 2022, applications will be accepted from eligible entities for projects addressing at least one of the following priorities: irrigation management technologies; climate smart agricultural solutions; nutrient management; and soil health demonstration (SHD) trial. Up to $25 million is available for On-Farm Trials in 2022.

HHS/NIH RFA-NS-23-014, Extracellular RNA Sequencing Research Resource for the Accelerating Medicines Partnership Parkinson’s Disease

This FOA seeks applicants experienced in the isolation and sequencing of RNA from brain-derived extracellular vesicles to develop a research resource for the AMP PD. Approximately 2400 blood samples will be provided for this project from existing Parkinson’s disease and normal control cohorts that already have longitudinal clinical and sequencing data that is publicly available to interested researchers. 

NSF 22-598, Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Research Initiation Initiative Synopsis 1

The NSF Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) seeks to award grants intended to support research independence among early-career academicians who specifically lack access to adequate organizational or other resources. It is expected that funds obtained through this program will be used to support untenured faculty or research scientists (or equivalent) in their first three years in a primary academic position after the PhD, but not more than six years after completion of their PhD for proposals submitted in 2022, and not more than five years after completion of their PhD for proposals submitted after 2022. 

NIH RFA-NS-22-040, BRAIN Initiative: Team-Research BRAIN Circuit Programs - TeamBCP (U19 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) Synopsis 1

USDA-NIFA-BPP-009262, Bioproduct Pilot Program

Deadline:

U.S. Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for a new pilot program created under President Biden’s historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support the development of biobased products that have lower carbon footprints and increase the use of renewable agricultural materials, creating new revenue streams for farmers. This $10 million investment is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing work to rebuild our infrastructure and create good-paying jobs and economic opportunity in our rural communities. 

FFAR & Walton Family Foundation, Achieving Conservation through Targeting Information, Outreach and Networking (ACTION) program

Edge-of-field is a conservation practice that allows for nutrient and sediment monitoring in water runoff at the field level. Despite the potential benefits of edge-of-field and other conservation practices to soil and watershed health, implementation occurs on less than 10% of all US croplands. The reasons for the low adoption rates remain unclear. Coordinated efforts that engage farmers from the beginning could help researchers understand farmers’ specific needs and develop interventions that specifically target those needs.

USDA-FNS-WIC-CIAO-2022, FY22 Community Innovation and Outreach (CIAO) Cooperative Agreement

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) administers the nutrition assistance programs of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). FNS works to promote nutrition security through the administration of 15 Federal nutrition assistance programs, including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, Beckman Young Investigator Program

Deadline:

NSF PD-21-1443, Fluid Dynamics

The Fluid Dynamics program is part of the Transport Phenomena cluster, which also includes 1) the Combustion and Fire Systems program; 2) the Particulate and Multiphase Processes program; and 3) the Thermal Transport Processes program.

The Fluid Dynamics program supports fundamental research toward gaining an understanding of the physics of various fluid dynamics phenomena. Proposed research should contribute to basic scientific understanding via experiments, theoretical developments, and computational discovery.

Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health 2022 Request for Proposals

The objective of the GPCAH Pilot/Feasibility Projects Program is to support new agricultural health and safety research, prevention, intervention, community outreach, and translation projects likely to lead to more comprehensive projects or activities. We support research projects that address hazards relevant to farmers and farm workers in our nine-state region (IA, IL, IN, KS, NE, MO, MN, OH, & WI). Pilot projects addressing work-related stress and mental health, the prevention of slips, trips and falls, machine safety, and chemical safety are especially encouraged.  Ag-related safety and health hazards will also be considered.

According to FFAR, food waste occurs for numerous reasons and at various levels throughout the food system, making tackling the problem especially challenging. Bayer Crop Science, Grants4Ag: Climate Solutions Through Plant Modifications

Bayer Crop Science is seeking innovative trait approaches to mitigate the impacts of rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide on climate change using technologies that enable on-the-farm carbon sequestration or carbon removal.

We seek to fund transformation experiments that enable carbon sequestration or removal in cereals, legumes and pulses relying on the use of gene editing or transgenes.

Bayer Crop Science, Grants4Ag: Enabling Technologies for Plant Transformation

Plant transformation is a key step in introducing novel traits that can improve our ability to provide sustainable food sources, particularly in row crops.
